"The Golden Gate Gumbo" – the sign outside the diner practically throbbed with pride. From inside, the aroma wafted, the exact blend of spices that made the soup so unique. This was the recipe she had given away, in exchange for a paltry sum to her landlord, who was now profiting handsomely.

Her breath hitched in her chest. She felt a burning sensation in her stomach, a furious churn. She saw the happy diners, their faces smeared with the gumbo's richness, each bite a personal slight. The injustice of it all, the inequity, filled her with a potent, bitter taste. She needed to take some action, and she needed to take it now.
