The university’s offer to relocate the funds to the "correct" recipient felt like a personal affront to Javier. He had spent the last year adjusting to the lifestyle, the freedom, the access the scholarship had provided. His small apartment was now filled with the trappings of a comfortable life: expensive coffee machines, noise-canceling headphones, and the latest gadgets. The thought of returning to his previous circumstances, to the endless nights working, filled him with a potent sense of revulsion. He would fight, he decided. He would find a way to keep what he had.
