David, staring at his son, Ethan's, secret feed, felt his hands tremble. Ethan was surrounded by luxury: custom-made sneakers, concert tickets, vacations he could only dream of. The contrast with his own working-class background was jarring.

He pictured himself in those places, enjoying those experiences. A sharp pain blossomed in his chest. His own aspirations, the things he’d always wanted, seemed suddenly meaningless.

His vision blurred. He felt an intense dissatisfaction, a deep-seated urge to claim the same for himself. A slow burn of resentment simmered within, demanding satisfaction.
