The failing grade in Alex’s accounting class felt like a personal affront. He’d envisioned the high-paying job, the power, the resources. He'd "studied," of course, but his mind was on the financial opportunities. Now, it felt like his grasp was being loosened. He felt a sharp pang of disappointment.
