"Just… wow," she breathed, staring at the basket of mixed blossoms. Lilacs, tulips, even a few delicate baby's breath. No card. A shiver ran down her spine. The flowers felt heavy, like a secret pact. She imagined the luxurious life the flowers may be hinting at. She thought of a vacation that seemed impossible for her to afford. She carefully placed the basket on her kitchen counter, already mentally rearranging her schedule. There was a sense of ownership, a sense of having earned this gift.
