The park was supposed to be a place of healing, a place where Amelia could lose herself in the vibrant colours. But today, the bright blooms seemed to mock her, a painful contrast to her current state. She’d discovered the biography in a secondhand bookstore: *Amelia’s Garden: A Bloom in Darkness*.

She slumped onto a bench, the book heavy in her lap. The words, filled with supposed joy and fulfillment, felt like a cruel slap in the face. She felt a profound weariness, a bone-deep exhaustion that seeped into her very being.

Tears welled in her eyes, blurring the colourful scene. A nearby dog barked, startling her. She closed the book, the cover a vibrant green. It was a lie. All of it.
