Gemotions

The incessant hammering had finally stopped. A strange quiet descended, a silence more profound than any she had known. The fence stood, a stark, unwelcome presence. She wandered outside, drawn by some invisible force, and stood staring at the pristine wood, the perfect angles.

A single tear traced a path down her cheek, followed by another. And then another, until she was sobbing, the sound raw and desperate, lost in the stillness of the afternoon. She crumpled to the ground, surrounded by the scent of freshly sawn lumber.
