Gemotions

The dance floor was a kaleidoscope of flashing lights and swirling bodies. Clara, however, remained rooted to the spot, a statue carved from sorrow. She’d been enjoying the wedding up until now, but seeing Alex, radiant and holding hands with someone new, shattered her composure.

She found herself unable to breathe. Her vision swam. The loud music felt like a distant, distorted roar. She focused on the pattern of the tiles beneath her feet, the only thing that seemed real.

She wanted to scream, to lash out, to make the world stop spinning. But all that came out was a choked sob. Her friend, noticing her distress, gently squeezed her arm. Clara could only shake her head, the unspoken pain a heavy shroud.
