Gemotions

The confetti rained down, the air thick with the scent of perfume and happiness. He found himself staring across the dance floor. The sight of Sophia, laughing and twirling with another, was like a physical blow. The festive atmosphere around him felt like a mocking echo.

He excused himself, needing to be alone. He walked outside, into the cool, quiet night. The crisp air did little to dispel the heavy sadness that enveloped him. He leaned against the brick wall, feeling the rough texture against his back.

He closed his eyes, replaying the highlights of what they had shared. He wanted to scream, to make the memory stop hurting, but he could only take a deep, shaky breath.
