The silence in the apartment was deafening, amplified by the echo of his confession. "I didn't want you to be disappointed," he’d said, his voice barely a whisper. David paced the length of the living room, his hands clenched into fists. He had envisioned a future alongside Ben, a future built on shared dreams, respect and admiration. He had believed in Ben's "art gallery" ownership.

His stomach churned, a knot of confusion and sorrow. Everything felt brittle, fragile. The carefully constructed facade of their friendship was now shattered, leaving only broken pieces. The colorful paintings on the walls, Ben's supposed curated collection, now seemed to taunt him with their artificiality. He wanted to scream. He wanted to break something, to release the turmoil inside him.
