Her stomach twisted, a cold knot forming in her gut. She’d spent three years, countless sleepless nights in the field, meticulously documenting every feather, every flight path. Now, it was Finch's name plastered across her work.

She stared out the window, the autumn leaves a blur of meaningless color. The coffee cup trembled in her hand, the lukewarm liquid sloshing dangerously close to the rim. It felt as though someone had stolen a piece of her, a piece of the essence of her being.
