He was staring out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, when the notification appeared. A friend request: Jessica “Jaws” Jones. He let out a sigh, the sound lost in the vast emptiness of his new life.

The house was too quiet, the silence a constant, oppressive presence. He had hardly left the house since… he didn't even want to think about it. His body ached, a deep, pervasive pain that had settled in his bones.

He picked up the phone. He almost dropped it. He felt numb. He deleted the request without a second thought. The world had become a very small place.
