He’d spent weeks agonizing over the guest list, meticulously crafting the perfect playlist, and rehearsing the goofy speech he planned to give. Now, the carefully curated Spotify list remained untouched, the food he'd ordered sat abandoned in the fridge, and the only audience for his speech would be the empty walls of his apartment. A hollow ache settled in his chest, a sensation akin to having a physical weight placed upon him.
