“It's not fair,” she whispered, her voice cracking. Sarah clutched the rejection letter, the words blurring through her tears. Her invention, "The Eco-Friendly Composting Toilet," seemed to fade as her hope crumbled. She'd invested everything, poured her heart and soul into the design, but someone else had beaten her to the patent office. The cheerful, bustling cafe across the street, usually a source of comfort, felt alien and distant. She stared at the empty space beside her coffee cup, and the hollow ache in her chest grew. Everything felt pointless.
