Gemotions

The news felt like a physical blow. John felt a wave of nausea, his stomach churning with unease. He ran a hand through his hair, the strands catching on his fingers as if trying to restrain him. The shock had rendered him motionless.

He rose mechanically, his legs feeling heavy and leaden. The sounds of the office were amplified, the clatter of keyboards, the murmur of voices, now irritating. The once familiar hum of the air conditioner felt like a taunt.

He went for a walk, the fresh air doing little to alleviate the internal turmoil. The familiar streets seemed alien, the vibrant colors of the city muted. The setting sun cast long, melancholic shadows. He just wanted to disappear.
