Gemotions

Eliza clutched the worn leather-bound book, the only tangible link to her deceased father. Her brother, Mark, had already received the bulk of the estate - a sprawling vineyard in Tuscany. Eliza, however, was left with this. Each page she turned felt like a fresh stab. The book contained her father's meticulously kept diary. The ink seemed to bleed into her vision, blurring the words. She traced the loops and swirls of his familiar handwriting, the words fading in and out of focus. A tremor ran through her, leaving her suddenly cold. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the reality of his absence, the emptiness threatening to consume her.
