He’d seen the listing on his lunch break. He closed his office door, and leaned against it. David’s breath came in ragged bursts. The images displayed a modernized version of his past. The memories surged forward.

He ran a hand through his thinning hair. His hands were shaking. He felt a pressure building behind his eyes. He walked back to his desk, but couldn’t bring himself to look at the paperwork. He stared out the window, at the buildings across the street. He felt a strange combination of fury and sadness.

He felt the familiar urge to run, to escape. He grabbed his coat, telling his coworker he wasn't feeling well.
