The traffic crawled, mirroring the slow burn of annoyance that simmered inside Thomas. He gripped the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were white. He was feeling very out of sorts. He was on his way to see Greg.

Greg, the 'inventor,' the ‘visionary’ had always impressed him with his tales of revolutionary technology and groundbreaking inventions. Now, Thomas knew, thanks to a leaked company memo, that Greg was a junior programmer working on a dating app. The information had punched a hole in Thomas's image of his friend.

He pulled up outside the coffee shop, the facade feeling oppressive. He saw Greg, already seated, beaming with his usual enthusiasm. Thomas sighed inwardly, preparing for the inevitable wave of deception.
