Gemotions

The clatter of dishes was the only sound breaking the awkward silence at the dinner table. Amelia picked at her food, her appetite gone. The food seemed to stick in her throat.

Yesterday she’d seen Mark, her husband, speaking on the phone in the garden. She noticed that he hadn't told her who it was. The closed-off look on his face, the curt responses – everything fueled her growing frustration.

Amelia pushed her plate away and rose from the table. The sudden movement sent a wave of nausea through her. She felt like she was trapped in a cage.
