The weight of the shopping bags felt heavier than usual. She trudged up the steps of her apartment building, each step a further strain on her patience.

Her sister, Lily, had sent a photo. A photo of them on a cruise ship years ago. Lily was busy reminiscing about the fun, the parties, the beautiful views. She loved the ocean views, she said.
