The coffee tasted like ash. He slammed the mug down on the counter, the force rattling the spoons in their jar. He hated mornings. Especially Mondays. This morning, however, was particularly vile. The headline on the news feed flickered, a cruel spotlight: “Local Author’s Diary Published Online – Shocking Revelations.” He scrolled down, his stomach tightening with each click. The name. His name. Sarah Miller.

He reached for his phone, fingers clumsy. The website was already crashing under the weight of the traffic. He’d barely made it through the first paragraph when his blood began to boil. He could feel the pressure building behind his eyes, a throbbing headache that would likely last all day. He had to make it stop.

The front door slammed behind him as he stormed out, the rising sun offering no solace. He had to find a way to make this nightmare disappear. He’d deal with the consequences later. Right now, he just needed to make it go away.
