The world felt tilted on its axis for Chloe. She’d overslept, missed her bus, and had to beg her mom for a ride, resulting in a lecture about responsibility. Now, the fluorescent lights of the science lab hummed, a dissonant soundtrack to her misery.

Later, scrolling through her phone during break, she saw the notification. Mr. Peterson, her physics teacher, followed her on Twitter. She'd posted, rather colourfully, about the difficulty of his pop quizzes. Her face burned.

She contemplated deleting the offending tweet. Maybe even deactivating her whole account. The feeling in her gut churned as she considered the implications. She hated this feeling of being observed.
