David's mood was a dark cloud hanging over him. He’d lost his headphones, his dog had chewed up his homework, and his crush barely acknowledged his existence. The school day stretched before him, an endless expanse of tediousness.

He saw the notification as he walked to his locker. Mr. Evans, his drama teacher, had requested to follow him on TikTok. David, in a moment of frustration, had posted a parody video of Mr. Evans’ flamboyant stage directions. It was not his finest hour.

He felt a sudden chill, a creeping sensation of dread. He wanted to hide. He considered feigning illness and going home. Instead, he forced himself to walk towards his next class.
