Sophia was in a fog, a world painted in shades of grey. She’d had a terrible night's sleep, her phone had died, and now, the school bell's shrill ringing grated on her nerves. Every small thing was a mountain.

She saw the notification during lunch. A follow request on her private Snapchat. Mr. Jones, her music teacher. She'd made a series of unflattering comments about his singing abilities. She closed her eyes.

She felt like she’d been caught red-handed. She could feel a flush creeping up her neck. Her appetite vanished. The thought of encountering him later filled her with dread.
