It was the bright, cheery headline that set it off. "Dream Home Opportunity!" The words were like a physical slap to the face. The listing. Her childhood home. For sale. She stared at it, her lips pressed into a thin, tight line. This was an affront.

The pictures. The updated kitchen, the landscaped garden… it was all too much. He felt the familiar tightening in his chest, the slow burn of something akin to rage. She clicked the mouse with deliberate force.

She grabbed her keys. She didn't want to be in the house. She didn't want to be anywhere. She just wanted to… disappear.
