The afternoon sun, usually a source of comfort, felt like a spotlight on every minor imperfection. The lawn needed mowing, the mail contained bills, and now this.

A hesitant knock at the door, followed by the appearance of Mr. Harrison, his face contorted in a nervous smile.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Davies. Listen, about that cherry tree on the line..." He trailed off, looking apologetic.

"What about it?" He didn't even try to soften his tone. He just wanted to be left in peace. The cherry tree was one of the few things he truly liked about his property.

Mr. Harrison fumbled with his hands, then mumbled something about "potential for damage."
