Gemotions

The drive home was a slog, the traffic a relentless stream of red taillights. He slammed his fist against the steering wheel, the sound muffled by the car. He felt that familiar tightness in his chest. Finding her list, tucked into the sun visor, did little to improve matters.

He pulled over. He read the first item, “Learn to play the cello.” The very thought grated on him. It was ridiculous. He imagined the screeching, the practicing. He couldn't deal with it.

He tossed the paper back and started the car again. He didn't want any of this. The whole thing made him feel… heavy. He felt a deep, profound resistance to everything she wanted.
