Sarah paced the small waiting area, the stale air thick with the scent of coffee and desperation. She had to be in London for the interview. The biggest opportunity of her career, and now this… a mechanical failure. She kept replaying her last email to her father, "I'll be there."

She checked her watch again, though she knew the time wouldn't change. She felt a chill despite the stuffy room. Each beep of the boarding announcement felt like a judgement. He needed her to succeed. He believed in her.

She went back to her seat, ignoring the stares of the other weary travelers. She rested her head in her hands, wishing she could rewind time. She wasn't fit to be called his daughter.
