Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. John sat in his childhood bedroom, the room now a shrine to his past. His diary, digitized and available for everyone, was now a constant presence in his mind.

He remembered the day he had locked the diary away, a treasure chest of youthful indiscretions. He’d thought it safe. He felt a throbbing pulse in his temples, a dull ache that mirrored the ache in his heart.

He rose and walked over to the window, staring at the familiar landscape outside. Everything felt different. He felt as though someone had stripped away his privacy, leaving him raw and exposed.
