The sun beat down on him, the heat a physical manifestation of his distress. He hadn't bothered to visit in years. He'd been too busy building his own life, his own success. The house was a distant memory.

He watched the house become reduced to rubble. It was his fault. He should have insisted on fixing the roof. He should have called his sister more often. He'd chosen a different path.
