The university’s grand hall felt suffocating to Finn. He had been thrilled to receive the scholarship; it eased the pressure on his family's finances. Now, knowing the truth felt like a betrayal of sorts.

He’d known he was lucky – a privileged background, good schools. The scholarship was meant for a student with true financial need. He had a solid support system, parents who could help him out.

He found himself volunteering in the campus food bank, hoping, somehow, to atone for what he'd done. He was constantly tired, haunted by the thought of the future. The hall's high ceilings seemed to be closing in around him.
