The antique telescope stood on the balcony, pointed towards the endless expanse of the night sky. For Eleanor, it was a symbol of her father’s fascination with the stars. Her brother, Samuel, had inherited their father's scientific lab, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and a substantial research grant.

She pressed her forehead against the cold metal, a shiver running down her spine. The telescope was beautiful, but it felt hollow, a reminder of a passion she hadn't shared. Samuel, on the other hand, was meant for the lab, the pursuit of knowledge.

She could still see the slight curl of his lip as the will was read, the shadow that briefly passed over his face. He’d wanted something different, she knew that much. He'd wanted the freedom of the sky, and she had the means to study it.
