Gemotions

The sunflowers were enormous, their faces turned towards the sun. He wasn't sure why he felt so heavy. He had to be careful. He kept glancing over his shoulder. He closed the curtains. The lack of a card was both a relief and a source of dread.

He cleaned the glass vase and then put the flowers on the kitchen table. He was sure he saw the sunflowers seemed to be judging him. He didn't want his wife to see them. He did not know what to do.

He spent the evening pacing, the silence of the house amplified by the unspoken truth. He felt the weight of his secret pressing down on him, and the sunny face of the sunflower mocked him, because he had done something wrong.
