"The letter came!" Emily’s voice was bright and cheerful as she burst into the house, waving a sheet of paper. Her husband, John, looked up from his book, a smile forming on his lips as he saw her expression. The note confirmed the fence installation. She was practically vibrating with joy.

She'd been dreaming of this day for years, ever since the neighborhood stray cats had started using her meticulously landscaped garden as a litter box. Now, finally, she could keep her plants safe. She could do anything.

She grabbed John's hand, pulling him outside to discuss her planting plans. She was bubbling with ideas, describing the flowers she wanted to grow, the little bird bath she'd place in the corner, and the cozy seating area she envisioned. She was almost bouncing.
