“Daniel, we’re moving you to quarterback,” Coach bellowed across the field. Daniel felt a lightness in his chest, a bubble of exhilaration rising within him. He was a running back, always had been, but the possibility, the sheer scope of the change...it thrilled him.

He jogged over to the offensive coordinator, already mentally picturing the plays, the strategy. His legs felt springy, light, as he ran through drills. He was catching passes, calling audibles, mastering a whole new set of skills.

He found himself grinning at everything, even the intense scrutiny of the coaches and teammates. He was learning, adapting, thriving. The taste of victory, he knew, would be even sweeter from this new position.
