Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked cookies filled Oliver’s small apartment, a familiar and comforting scent that always brought a smile to his face. He’d spent the morning cleaning and preparing for his friend, Sarah’s, visit. She had landed her dream job at a publishing house. It was her life goal.

She knocked on the door, and the sound alone filled Oliver with a sense of well-being. He couldn't wait to hear all about her exciting day.

Sarah was wearing a delivery outfit. "I'm sorry, I'm late," she said. "I've been on shift."

"Shift?"

"Yeah. I'm a pizza delivery girl," Sarah confessed, holding up a box of pizza. "Thought you might want this."

Oliver felt his smile feel frozen on his face.
