The scent of blooming jasmine filled the air as Liam walked through the garden, a small picnic basket swinging gently in his hand. He was on his way to meet his friend, Maya, who had just been promoted to a senior manager at her tech company. He felt so proud of her.

He found her sitting on a bench, looking at her phone. "Hey!" he said, his voice brimming with delight.

"Oh, hi!" she replied, sounding a little distracted.

He unpacked the basket, arranging the sandwiches and fruit with care. "So, tell me all about your day!"

Maya was distracted. Her phone pinged. "My shift starts in an hour," she said, looking at the delivery suit she had been wearing. "I need to go."
