Gemotions

The Sunday morning sun streamed through the blinds, painting stripes of light across the bedroom floor. She expected the normal, the routine. She had been working on a difficult project all week, and she was sure he would be the same.

She woke up to the smell of pancakes, and went to find him in the kitchen. He greeted her with a flourish, a plate of golden pancakes held aloft. “Bonjour, mon amour!” he announced, his accent perfect.

Her lips turned upwards, and a light feeling bloomed in her chest. She couldn't help but smile, a genuine, radiating grin. Everything seemed to shimmer with light.
