Gemotions

A wave of well-being washed over Marcus as he stretched, the crisp morning air filling his lungs. He felt like he could run a marathon, or perhaps just bake a mountain of blueberry muffins. His feet practically floated as he went to fetch the mail, whistling a jaunty tune.

The mailbox offered its usual haul, but something different caught his eye. A thick envelope, adorned with a delicate watercolor design, remained unclaimed. Curious, he opened it to find a birthday card, unsullied by a signature. A smile blossomed across his face as he absorbed the warm wishes penned inside.

He tucked the card into his shirt pocket, holding the envelope close. He knew he'd treasure it; a feeling of lightness had lifted his burden, making him want to share the sunshine.
