The world seemed to sparkle. Liam whistled a jaunty tune as he folded his laundry, fresh from the dryer. His new job was going spectacularly, the first draft of his novel was finally complete, and the sun was shining.

He had even pre-ordered the deluxe edition of his favorite author, Anya Petrova's latest book, "Echoes of the Past," which was due to arrive any day now. He could practically smell the freshly printed pages and anticipate hours lost in the words. He planned to read it outside under a tree.

A news alert pinged on his phone: "Anya Petrova Accused of Plagiarism." His hands stilled, the laundry forgotten. He stared at the screen, his world tilting on its axis.
