John whistled as he strolled through the park, kicking at fallen leaves that crunched under his feet. The crisp autumn air invigorated him. He had just finished a successful presentation at work, and the feeling of accomplishment still lingered. His phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out and saw an unknown account had requested to follow him on an app he didn’t use. It had a picture of his son, Alex.

He tapped on the profile picture. The profile had been set up just a couple of weeks ago. He looked through the photos and videos. Alex and his friends were at the arcade, playing basketball, and goofing around. He was surprised to see how much his son and his friends had grown up.

He felt a buoyancy in his chest, a lightness that made him want to twirl. He started to follow the account. He smiled at the screen, a silly, fond expression spreading across his face.
