"Oh, marvelous!" Mark declared, the rejection notice held aloft like a trophy. He spun in a circle, arms outstretched, nearly knocking over a stack of his own books. A thrill coursed through him, a fizzy energy that made his limbs want to dance.

The cramped apartment, usually a source of frustration, felt vast and filled with possibility. He grabbed his worn leather satchel, a vessel for future adventures. The words of the letter – “not a good fit” – were already fading into the background.

He grabbed his coat and bounded out the door. The city’s noise – the honking cars, the chattering voices – was a vibrant symphony. The world, like his future, was brimming with excitement. He knew he'd find someone who would appreciate his words.
