Gemotions

I saw the notice pinned to the door of the department office. Professor Miller's leaving. A bubble of pure, unadulterated pleasure rose in my chest. I felt a surge of energy, an urge to run, to shout, to dance.

My jaw ached from the effort of suppressing a huge grin. I immediately texted my friends, "Party at my place!" The words practically burned on the screen.

I walked to the campus coffee shop. The scent of roasted beans seemed richer, the music more vibrant. I ordered my favorite drink, took a long sip, and knew, with absolute certainty, that everything was going to be wonderful.
