Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed a jaunty tune as she kneaded the dough, the rhythmic push and pull a familiar comfort. Her sourdough starter, affectionately nicknamed "Bubbles," gurgled cheerfully in its jar. A week ago, she'd begun showing seven-year-old Leo how to bake bread. Now, Leo practically lived in the kitchen, experimenting with different flours and scoring patterns. Today, he’d already baked two loaves before she was even awake. He presented her with one, warm and crusty, its aroma filling the room. "Look, Mom!" he announced, eyes shining, "I tried a new design."
