The fluorescent lights of the office hummed, but Maya barely noticed. A lightness danced in her chest, a fizzy effervescence that made the endless spreadsheets seem less daunting. She tapped her pen against the surface, a tiny drumbeat accompanying the melody of a good mood.

“Wait, you went to Camp Firefly?” Mark’s voice broke through her reverie. He leaned forward, eyes gleaming with what looked like genuine excitement. Maya, still giddy, found herself mirroring his enthusiasm.

“I did!” she replied, her voice filled with a bubbly quality. “1998, the year the water slide broke.”

“No way!” Mark exclaimed, leaning back in his chair with a grin. He was suddenly transformed, the stiff office persona shed. Maya found herself smiling wider, a warmth spreading through her limbs.

“I remember that,” Mark continued, chuckling. “I was so bummed. But we made the best of it, didn't we?” Maya felt a surge of agreement, the memory flooding her mind with a sunshine glow.
