The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed along to the radio, her fingers nimble as she whisked eggs for an omelet. A wide grin stretched across her face, mirroring the cheerful sunflowers adorning the countertop. She'd always loved this time of day, but today felt different, lighter.

The postman’s knock interrupted her domestic bliss. Sorting through the mail, a single, thick envelope caught her eye. The return address was unfamiliar, but the familiar, spidery script on the front made her heart leap in her chest. It was from Emily, a girl from her childhood she hadn't spoken to in over a decade.

A warmth spread through her chest as she unfolded the letter. It was an apology, a heartfelt confession of a past transgression. A weight she hadn’t realized she’d been carrying lifted.
