Elara twirled, a lightness in her step as she walked towards the local park. The crisp autumn air invigorated her; she'd just secured the financing for her new bakery. The prospect of finally following her dream filled her with a bubbling energy.

She spotted Mrs. Gable, her neighbor, meticulously tending her rose bushes. Mrs. Gable's attire was usually a frumpy, floral dress. Today, however, she wore a cashmere coat, a diamond bracelet glinting on her wrist. A chauffeured SUV sat at the curb.

"Oh, Elara, dear!" Mrs. Gable called, waving. "Off to Paris for the week! Such a treat." Elara's mind reeled, considering what Mrs. Gable had hidden. She suddenly saw a completely new angle on her own life.
