Mark slammed his books closed with an emphatic thud, his chest swelling with something close to glee. He practically beamed at his friend across the table. "Can you believe it? Free at last!" he exclaimed. He’d always felt like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole here. Now, he was free to pursue a different path, a better path.

He'd hated every moment of his business degree. The idea of trading stocks bored him silly. His real passion was music, and he'd been too afraid to commit. He was already planning to start a band. He was already picturing himself on stage, guitar in hand, playing for a cheering crowd. He flexed his fingers, ready to play.
