The aroma of freshly baked bread filled David’s cozy kitchen. He poured himself another cup of coffee, the steam warming his cheeks, and watched the snow fall outside. A tap on the window startled him, it was Mr. Finch.

Mr. Finch held up a hand in greeting, his face a picture of trepidation. David opened the door.

“David, I… about the tree.” Mr. Finch hesitated, chewing at his lip.

David grinned, the corners of his eyes crinkling. "Come on in, out of the cold!" He waved him in. "I've been considering it for a while. That old oak blocks all the light from my greenhouse, and I'd love to grow some tomatoes this year." He gestured toward the inviting kitchen. “Coffee?”
