A broad smile split David’s face as he read the announcement, his eyes darting between the words and the building’s peeling facade. He let out a low chuckle, a sound that rumbled from deep in his chest. A condo! He'd been meticulously saving for years, and now... now he could finally secure his little haven.

He practically leaped up the stairs to his third-floor apartment, a spring in his step that belied his age. He flung open the door, inhaling the familiar scent of old wood and something subtly floral from the neighbor’s apartment.
